240 cm Challenge – How to Fit a Wide Detail into a Standard 40’HC Container?

19 February 2025

The Challenge: Packing a Wide Detail into a Container

As part of the comprehensive decommissioning of a production plant of one of the world’s leading bus manufacturers, we faced the challenge of not only dismantling and packing individual vehicle components but also ensuring their safe transport to a new location. One of the most demanding tasks was the proper securing and packaging of an element with a width of 240 cm – significantly exceeding the standard container width.

Packaging Design – Precision and Innovation

During the initial on-site inspection and measurements in Wrocław, we quickly realized that a standard packing approach would not be sufficient. Due to the unique dimensions of the detail, its delicate structural elements and excessive width, we had to develop a customized solution that would allow for its loading and safe transport in a 40HC container.

Key Requirements for the Packaging Solution
  • Support only on the long edges to avoid pressure on sensitive structural points.
  • A strong yet lightweight angled support base to optimize space utilization within the container.
  • Special reinforcements and secure fastenings to ensure stability during transport.
  • A design enabling fast and safe loading and unloading at the destination.

Once the design was approved, we thoroughly discussed the packaging structure with our packing team, marking key points that required additional protection. Close collaboration between our design and packing teams ensured a smooth execution of the next stages.

Packing and Transport – Maximum Safety at Every Stage

After preparing the packaging, we moved on to the actual packing process. The 240 cm-wide detail was placed in a special openwork crate, designed to distribute weight efficiently and stabilize the cargo during transport. Reinforced mounting points and additional covers for protruding elements minimized the risk of mechanical damage.

Each component was carefully measured and inspected for compliance with the design, and then securely loaded into 40HC and 40OT containers. Thanks to professional container stowage, the entire shipment reached its destination without any damage.

Success Through Organization and Precision Planning

Executing such a complex project would not have been possible without flawless organization and close collaboration between our KADOR facilities. Every stage – from design and packaging production to final transport – was carefully coordinated and monitored to ensure maximum safety and on-time deliveries.
